Allard Pierson

In 2014, the archives managed by NAGO were transferred to Allard Pierson, the home of all heritage collections of the University of Amsterdam. NAGO and the UvA had previously collaborated on the preservation and management of the heritage of graphic design and typography and on the dissemination of knowledge in that field. Moreover, the UvA already managed a number of design archives and hospitably hosted the newly established WCI. WCI still manages the NAGO website and occasionally mediates to provide housing for design archives. The current Allard Pierson supports WCI organizationally and in terms of facilities, including providing WCI with accommodation. In addition, Allard Pierson has assumed responsibility for accessing the archives.

Algemeen Sociaal Fonds voor de grafimedia

The Wim Crouwel Chair came about in part thanks to a generous contribution from the General Sociala Fund for the Graphic Media.

Amsterdamse Universiteitsfonds

The Amsterdam University Fund enables special facilities for scholarship and students that are not provided for by government funding. The Wim Crouwel Fund is part of the AUF. From the Wim Crouwel Fund, activities of the WCI are financed.

Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers

Among other things, the BNO and WCI work together to reach specific audiences for mutual activities.

Het Nieuwe Instituut

WCI participates in the Network of Archives Design and Digital Culture, of which HNI is the lead agency.

Pakhuis de Zwijger

Twice a year, the Wim Crouwel Institute (WCI) and Pakhuis de Zwijger organize “It's All Graphic,” a thematic evening around urgent and current topics in graphic design. Themes can be twofold. A theme can arise from current events (such as design for vital professions) or from the relevance of a theme (for example around data visualization).

Pictoright

Pictoright is the copyright organization for visual creators in the Netherlands: illustrators, visual artists, graphic designers, photographers, architects and other visual creators (or their heirs). Among other things, Pictoright distributes collective fees.

Pictoright Fonds

Thanks to generous support from the Pictoright Fund, WCI has been able to continue its existence as of 2016. In addition, PF funds the Wim Crouwel Chair and fellowship, among other things.

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

The Wim Crouwel Chair was established in collaboration with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Allard Pierson (UvA). Prof. Alice Twemlow will have access to the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Allard Pierson archives. The SMA, like the UvA, manages one of the largest heritage collections of graphic design in the Netherlands. Content research on the past, present and future of the profession is therefore relevant to both institutions, as is study of the collection, collecting and exhibiting.
